DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the department is reflected in the Mission statement, Values statement and the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. It is also reflected in our belief in ourselves, in creativity, in decision making, and in problem solving. We are capable and caring people who are doing important and satisfying work for the citizens of our community.
We are creative. The Charter Township of Flint Police Department supports the use of creativity and ingenuity in its day-to-day operations. New and creative solutions to “everyday” problems are important to organizational growth and development and for improved service for our citizens. Innovation and reasonable risk-taking are supported and encouraged in efforts towards the achievement of organizational goals.
We are decision makers. Our decisions will be based on our values and how best to accomplish our mission. Decision making should be at the lowest appropriate level with individual department member willing to accept personal responsibility and organizational accountability for their decisions.
